ACT FESTIVAL, International Festival of Emerging Scene that was to be held in the first week of June in Bilbao and Barakaldo, has decided to delay its celebration to the first week of November due to major causes caused by the State of Alarm in the face of the global pandemic of COVID19 , for responsibility towards workers, agents linked to the festival and the general public.
For this edition the festival has received more than 700 applications from all over the world and after the closing of the call a selection committee chose the pieces that would be part of this year’s edition, this selection was communicated in mid-February to the applicants.
Once various scenarios were raised, many doubts cleared and many possibilities valued, ACT FESTIVAL has decided to delay its celebration until autumn.
The high quality and novelty of the program, the need for the public to enjoy live shows again, the opportunity for the local artistic sector to thrive on these new trends, and for local emerging artists to have this opportunity to spread their work, In addition to the responsibility of the festival with the emerging international scene, they have made the seventeenth edition of ACT FESTIVAL an exercise in struggle for culture, and a commitment to its dissemination and promotion.
ACT FESTIVAL adds to the main theme of this year, which will be Identity, a reflection on the impact that this global health crisis has had on the way of thinking / inhabiting the scene by emerging creators. And it will also leave the door open to promote some online activities and expand the festival’s broadcast through streaming.
ACT FESTIVAL, Ekainaren lehen astean Bilbon eta Barakaldon ospatzekoa zen Nazioarteko Eszena Sortzaile Berrien Jaialdia, azaroaren lehen astera atzeratzea erabaki dugu, COVID19ren pandemia globalaren aurrean ezarritako Alarma Egoerak eragindako arrazoi larriengatik eta langileekiko, jaialdiarekin lotutako agenteekiko eta publiko orokorrarekiko erantzukizunagatik.
Aurtengo ediziorako mundu osoko 700 eskaera baino gehiago jaso zituen jaialdiak, eta abenduan deialdia itxi ondoren, hautaketa-batzorde batek aukeratu zituen aurtengo edizioko lanak. Aukeraketa hori otsailaren erdialdean jakinarazi zitzaien eskatzaileei.
Hainbat agertoki planteatu, zalantza asko argitu eta aukera asko baloratu ondoren, ACT FESTIVALek ospakizuna udazkenera atzeratzea erabaki du.
Programaren kalitate eta berritasun handiak, ikusleek zuzeneko ikuskizunez gozatzeko duten beharrak, tokiko sektore artistikoa joera berri horiez elikatzeko eta tokiko artista berrien lana zabaltzeko aukera izateak, jaialdiak nazioarteko agertokiarekin duen erantzukizunaz gain, ACT FESTIVALen hamazazpigarren edizioa kulturaren aldeko borroka-ariketa eta bere hedapenarekiko nahiz sustapenarekiko konpromisoa bihurtzea eragin dute.
ACT FESTIVALen aurtengo gai nagusia identiatea da, baina hartaz gain, osasun-krisi global honek sortzaile berrien eszena pentsatzeko/bizitzeko moduari nola eragin dion hausnartuko dugu . ACT FESTIVAL, Festival Internacional de Escena Emergente que era de celebrarse en la primera semana de junio en Bilbao y Barakaldo, ha decidido retrasar su celebración a la primera semana de noviembre debido a causas mayores provocadas por el Estado de Alarma ante la pandemia global del COVID19, por responsabilidad frente a las personas trabajadoras, agentes ligados al festival y público en general.
Para esta edición el festival ha recibido más de 700 solicitudes de todo el mundo y tras el cierre de la convocatoria un comité de selección eligió las piezas que formarían parte de la edición de este año, dicha selección se comunicó a mediados de febrero a los y las solicitantes.
Una vez planteados diversos escenarios, despejadas muchas dudas y valoradas muchas posibilidades, ACT FESTIVAL ha decidido retrasar su celebración a otoño.
La alta calidad y novedad del programa, la necesidad del público de volver a disfrutar de espectáculos en vivo, la oportunidad para que el sector artístico local se nutra de estas nuevas tendencias, y para que artistas emergentes locales tengan esta oportunidad de difundir su obra, además de la responsabilidad del festival con la escena emergente internacional han hecho que la décimo séptima edición de ACT FESTIVAL sea un ejercicio de lucha a favor de la cultura, y un compromiso con su difusión y promoción.
ACT FESTIVAL añade al tema principal de este año, que será la Identidad, una reflexión sobre el impacto que ha provocado esta crisis sanitaria global en el modo de pensar/habitar la escena por parte de los creadores y creadoras emergentes. Y dejará también la puerta abierta a potenciar algunas actividades online y expandir mediante streaming la difusión del festival.

Due to the current health crisis, it seems appropriate to keep you informed of possible scenarios related to the festival. From the festival’s production office we are optimistic and continue working tirelessly to offer yet another creative and competitive space for emerging artists and audiences. Our pre-production calendar follows its course and we keep working so that the coordination between the different areas of the festival is fluid and efficient.

ACT Festival 2020 desea que estéis bien y quiere actualizar información en cuanto al desarrollo de la décimo séptima edición de ACT Festival. Debido a la actual situación de crisis sanitaria, nos parece oportuno manteneros al tanto de posibles escenarios relativos a la realización del festival. Desde la oficina del festival somos optimistas y seguimos trabajando incansablemente para ofrecer un año más un espacio creativo y de calidad para artistas emergentes y público. Nuestro calendario de pre-producción sigue su curso y trabajamos para que la coordinación entre sus distintas áreas sea fluida y eficiente.
En cualquier caso, la celebración del festival está a expensas del desarrollo de esta crisis y las políticas de actuación entorno a ella.
