Festival Internacional de Escena Corta
ACT, International Short Pieces, has been run by BAI, Theatre School of Bizkaia, for the last 12 years. ACT is a point of reference not only for emerging artists of the Performing Arts and professionals but also for the public in general.
Open to new tendencies, ACT organises and promotes the training, international interrelationships and the emerging works. ACT is a launching pad of new scenic works, and there for promotes its contest section, as well as the meeting and the interchange between the participants.
After 20 years of showcasing short pieces and contemporary languages, ACT has become a reference point at a European level. The pieces to contest opt to different prizes given by an international jury: a 2000 euro prize and an a month artistic residency in Bilbao, at the premises of BAI; and a performance at the DURI Theatre in Seoul, South Korea were some of the prizes in last year’s edition.
Besides the program of performances to contest and exhibition, the festival offers spaces in which one can learn and share experiences in extended culturally diverse environments, such as the lunch and dinner times as well as the nights of the festival.
ACT also organizes a pedagogical program, talks, Master Classes and workshops.
BAI and ACT, along with another 10 Performing Arts festivals around Europe select a production that will tour the participant festival in this network. Every festival hosts a minimum of pieces selected within this programa that aims to promote touring, sharing and netorking among emerging artists abroad.
